Opening a New Golf Simulator Venue? Here Is Your 90-Day Marketing Launch Plan

Opening a golf simulator venue is a significant investment. The equipment alone often runs into six figures. The build-out, furniture, licensing, and staffing add up fast. And yet, the most common mistake new venue owners make is treating marketing as an afterthought — something to figure out after the doors are open.

The venues that launch successfully are the ones that build their audience before they open, create demand before they have supply, and hit opening week with a waitlist of people ready to book. Here is how to do exactly that across a 90-day window.

Days 1 to 30: Build Awareness Before You Open

Your marketing should start 90 days before your planned opening date, not the week you get your occupancy permit. The goal of this first phase is simple: make as many people as possible aware that something exciting is coming to their area.

Create a coming-soon landing page immediately. It does not need to be elaborate: a compelling headline, 2 to 3 sentences about what the venue will offer, a high-quality render or photo of the space, and an email capture form with an irresistible incentive — 'Join the founding member waitlist and get 20 percent off your first season package.'

Run geotargeted social media ads to build your email list. Target people within 15km of your venue who have expressed interest in golf, entertainment, or corporate events. Your cost-per-lead will be low in this phase because you are building curiosity, not asking for a purchase.

Establish your social media profiles and begin posting construction updates, equipment arrivals, and behind-the-scenes content. This content is genuinely interesting to people who follow local businesses, and it builds anticipation in a way no promotional post ever could.

Days 31 to 60: Build Your Founding Community

By day 30 you should have an email list of several hundred interested local prospects. Now it is time to convert the most enthusiastic of them into founding members before you have even opened.

Launch a founding member offer with genuine exclusivity: a special rate available only to the first 50 or 100 members who sign up. This is your best pricing ever — you will never offer it again — and in exchange, founding members become advocates who have a personal stake in your success.

Email your waitlist. Run retargeting ads to everyone who visited your landing page. Reach out personally, if possible, to the most engaged followers on social media. Offer founding members a private soft-launch preview event before the public opening — an evening where they get to be first in the simulators and provide feedback. This event costs you almost nothing and creates lifelong loyalty.

Simultaneously, begin outreach to local media. A new golf simulator venue is a genuine local interest story. Pitch your story to local lifestyle publications, sports blogs, business journals, and radio stations. A single feature article in a well-read local publication is worth thousands of dollars in paid advertising.

Days 61 to 90: Generate Pre-Opening Bookings

In the final 30 days before you open, your focus shifts from list-building to booking. Open your booking calendar and start accepting reservations immediately. Announce your launch date publicly with a countdown across your email list and social channels.

Run a grand opening promotion that creates a specific reason to book opening week: a complimentary drink with every booking, a grand opening raffle entry with every session, or a donation to a local charity for every booking in the first week. These mechanics create urgency without simply discounting.

Host your founding member preview event 3 to 5 days before the public launch. Photograph it extensively. Post the content immediately after. The images of real people having a great time in your venue — before you have even officially opened — are your most powerful marketing asset for launch week.

By the time your doors open to the public, you should have a full first week of bookings, a growing social media following with genuine engagement, a founding member base who feel ownership over the venue's success, and local media coverage that introduces your venue to thousands of people who have never heard of you.

After Opening: The 30-Day Retention Sprint

The biggest post-launch mistake is easing off on marketing once bookings look good. The first 30 days of operation set the habits and expectations of your early customers. This is when your email automation, review generation system, and loyalty program need to be firing on all cylinders.

Every customer who visits in your first month should receive a follow-up email, be asked for a Google review, and be given a clear reason to return. The venues that build a loyal core in their first 60 days of operation are the ones that are still thriving three years later.
